PATIENCE AND JUNE 12: If we had been patient (meaning: if IBB had been honest):

PATIENCE AND JUNE 12: If we had been patient (meaning: if IBB had been honest):

* MKO Abiola would have served his two terms out in 2001.

* Another president would have finished another 8 years in 2009.

* A 3rd president would by now be rounding off his 1st term and we would be in elections.

* Niger Delta militancy might not have occurred.

* There might have been no Boko Haram.

* Yar'Adua, Ige, Kudirat or even Abacha would still be alive while MKO would today be a wise 'owly' elder statesman and OBJ would not have gone to prison.

* Of course, all those innocent people whom Abacha mowed down on the streets or through Sgt Rogers might still be alive to pursue their dreams.

We must fix an eye behind our heads, like Janus, to behold a plethora of wasted opportunities as we gallop forward in anger, hopefully towards a better day in our leadership recruitment process.

That way we shall be doing MKO's memory a lot of good.

May God bless a united, egalitarian and truly Federal Republic of Nigeria!
